Kinds of Lights 3

Opening and Disappearing

Kinds of Light is a concert series for experimental music presented by PS and Tone List.
The third concert in the series combines two kinds of immersive music: improvisation with volume and intensity, contrasting against subtle and quiet world-building.

Line-up

DEZ CARTEZ (Adam Buckley & Ben Greene)
CATHERINE LAMB [USA]

Dez Cartez is the duo of virtuosic improvisers Ben Greene (drums) and Adam Buckley (guitar). Having worked together in numerous avant-garde rock and jazz projects over many years, including BOCKS and the Ben Greene Sextet, this project opens a space for their enduring friendship & collaboration to manifest in its most concentrated and hectic form.

The composition “nodes, various” by Berlin-based composer Catherine Lamb is a concert work for multiple spatialised synthesizer performers, creating an ebbing and flowing of softly resonant tones. The audience is invited to move throughout the space, exploring the interaction of these tones in the room. Exploring just intonation - a microtonal tuning system - the work's harmonies are wondrous and unique.
