TRANSMEDIAL: Expanding Technologies in Contemporary Printmaking

Curated by academic and artists Monika Lukowska and Sarah Robinson, this exhbition investigates work that shares an affinity of expanding technologies in contemporary printmaking by the following artists: Paul Catanese (USA), Deborah Cornell (USA), Susanne Klein, (UK) Ingrid Ledent (BLG), Santiago Pérez (AUS), Marta Pogorzelec (PL), Magda Stawarska-Beavan (PL), and Jo Stockham (UK). A rich forum is assured through the wide selection of inventive interdisciplinary artworks that have never been seen in Perth before. Highlights of the exhibition include: Marta Pogorzelec's lenticular prints that challenge the two dimensional surface of print, rotating 3D Bot heads that lie in the virtual and material world by Jo Stockham, Paul Catanese's performative use of drone technologies in conjunction with traditional printmaking techniques, Santiago Pérez's interdisciplinary design practice rethinks fabrication technologies and materials using robotics and innovative use of the XIXth Century technique of Woodburytype by chemistry expert Suzanne Klein.

Polish artist Marta Pogorzelec will also be artist-in-residence at PS Upstairs Gallery for the duration of the exhibition.

Guided Tour, Sunday 31 May Accompanying the exhibition will be four guided tours, mentoring sessions for fine art students, artists talks, visiting artist in residence, printmaking workshops and a printmaking symposium on Sunday May 31st.
